Zensar will hire 1,200 engineers in Karnataka this fiscal on the back of growth in manufacturing, retail and distribution business.

To service its global client base, the company is all set to open a new 120-seater in Bangalore that will work on high-end design and services work in the areas of cloud, mobility and social media for enterprises.

The company, which does retail work for clients in manufacturing, retail and other sectors, has India development centres in Pune and Hyderabad.

However, as it expands into newer ways of doing business and tapping into areas such as cloud, mobility and social media, it is facing talent issues. This has prompted the company to look at Bangalore for some key clients and will look at hiring specialised talent such as product designers for its Bangalore centre.

Since Bangalore is an expensive city to run operations, the company is looking to hire workforce in tier-II and III cities.

“We see bullishness amongst our clients in outsourcing high-end work to companies like Zensar and this development centre will cater to those needs,” Dr Ganesh Natarajan, Vice-Chairman and CEO, Zensar Technologies, told Business Line on the sidelines of Global Investors Meet.

The company has development centres outside India in China, Japan and the UK.

Also, according to company officials, proximity in servicing its US clients is another big factor for Zensar to open its development centre in Karnataka. At the end of last fiscal, Zensar had around 7,000 employees.
