Cardamom prices rose by Rs 12.80 to Rs 1,065 a kg in futures trade today largely on the back of a pick up in demand in the spot market.
Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the rise in prices.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for June contract delivery rose by Rs 12.80 or 1.22 per cent to Rs 1,065 a kg with a trading volume of nine lots, while July contract cardamom increased by Rs 9.60, or 0.91 per cent to Rs 1,060 a kg in five lots.
Similarly, the spice for May contract delivery gained Rs 7.90 or 0.75 per cent to Rs 1,030 a kg with a business volume of 35 lots.
Traders said pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions was mainly responsible for the rise in prices in futures trade.
