Chana gained in Indore mandis on improved demand from millers and comparatively weak arrivals. Arrival of chana was 1,500-2,000 bags being offloaded in the local mandis.
Compared with spot, chana prices on the futures market ruled sluggish with May contracts on the NCDEX closing Rs 5 lower at Rs 2,305 a quintal. Chana (desi), on the other hand, quoted at Rs 2,250-60, while chana (mausmi) at Rs 2,400-2,600 a quintal. Chana dal, however, ruled firm with chana dal (bold) in the spot quoting at Rs 2,925-50, chana dal (medium) at Rs 2,825-50 and chana dal (average) at Rs 2,700-25 a quintal.
Dollar chana or chickpea ruled firm with its prices in the spot quoting at Rs 5,400-5,600 a quintal, while in container, dollar chana (42/44 count) ruled steady at Rs 6,400. Arrival of dollar chana continued to be on the higher side. On Wednesday, about 8,000 bags arrived in the local
Masur gained Rs 50 on improved demand with masur (bold) quoting at Rs 3,000 a quintal, while masur (medium) at Rs 2,600. Masur dal ruled steady with the bold variety quoting at Rs 3,625-3,650 a quintal, masur dal (medium) at Rs 3525-3,250 and masur dal (average) at Rs 3,400-3,425 a quintal respectively.
Urad (bold) in the spot quoted steady at Rs 4,000 and urad (medium) at Rs 3,500-3,700 a quintal.
