Jeera prices rose by Rs 187 to Rs 15,801 a quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by a rise in demand at the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June rose by Rs 187 or 1.20 per cent to Rs 15,801 a quintal, with an open interest of 11,988 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April moved up by Rs 124 or 0.85 per cent to Rs 14,640 a quintal, with a business turnover of 2,226 lots.

Analysts said pick-up in spot market demand mainly pushed up prices.
