Pepper prices declined on Wednesday despite very thin arrival on the spot. The trade attributed the fall to the presence of Sri Lankan pepper. It alleged that the imported material was of low bulk density and of inferior quality. Only two tonnes of pepper arrived and that were traded.

Spot prices decreased by ₹400 to ₹69,000 (ungarbled) and ₹72,000 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices were at $12,200 a tonne cf for Europe and $12,450 for the US.
