Sluggish trend in chana

The sluggish trend continued in chana on weak buying with prices of chana (kanta) on Tuesday in local mandis being quoted at ₹2,750-2,800, while chana (desi) ruled at ₹2,400-2,500 (down ₹100 from last week), chana (mausmi) ruled at ₹2,700-3,000, kaktu at ₹2,700-2,800, while kabuli bitki ruled at ₹2,750-2,800 a quintal respectively. Compared to last week, chana is ruling stable. Given adequate stocks and slack physical demand in pulses and besan, bearish sentiment in chana is likely to continue in the coming days, said Prakash Vora, a local pulse trader. Chana dal also ruled flat on slack demand with chana dal (average) today being quoted at ₹2,950-3,050 a quintal, chana dal (medium) at ₹3,150-3,250, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹3,450-3,700 a quintal. Compared with last week, chana dal is ruling stable. Sluggish export demand also dragged dollar chana on Tuesday to ₹4,000-4,800 (₹4,100-5,450 a quintal last week) amid arrival of 10,000-12,000 bags in mandis across Madhya Pradesh. In container trade also, dollar chana ruled flat on slack export demand with dollar chana (42/44 count) today being quoted at ₹5,600-5,625, 44/46 count at ₹5,400-5,425, 58/60 count ruled at ₹4,425-4,450, while dollar chana (60/62 count) with 7.2 per cent moisture was quoted at ₹4,225-4,250 a quintal.
