Ample supplies weigh on sugar

Sugar market continued its steady trend as supplies eased and demand was limited. The Centre’s vigil on price volatility in essential commodities and fears of crackdown kept prices under check in spot and futures. Enough supply from mills kept the morale steady, sources said. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,582-3,756 (3,582-3,756) and M-grade ₹3,662-3,882 (3,656-3,882). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,550-3,630 (3,550-3,630) and M-grade ₹3,640-3,720 (3,630-3,730).
