Blenders lift liquoring teas at Kochi auctions

Blender support lifted the prices of good liquoring tea varieties at the Kochi auctions last week.

The CTC dust market for good liquorings was firm to dearer by ₹3 to ₹7 and sometimes more, especially for the powdery grades. Others were irregular and lower, said auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis. In sale no 20, the quantity on offer in CTC was 11,78,500 kg.

In orthodox dust, the market was firm to dearer and the quantity on offer was 6,500 kg.

In the leaf category, the market for select best Nilgiri brokens and whole leaf in orthodox grades was firm to dearer. Others were irregular and lower and witnessed a lot of withdrawals. The quantity on offer was 2,11,000 kg.

In CTC leaf, the market was lower by ₹3 to ₹5 and witnessed heavy withdrawals due to low bids or lack of bids. Monica SFD quoted the best prices of ₹158 in the dust category followed by Injipara SFD at ₹153.

In the leaf category, Chamraj FOP-S (Green Tea) came to the top quoting ₹381, followed by P’s Woodlands Hyson (Green Tea), which quoted at ₹301.
