Brinjal prices may rise by mid-March

Our Bureau Updated - February 19, 2014 at 08:59 PM.

Medium demand and high supply of brinjal ( vari kathirikai ) has tended to pull its price downwards. “This is the peak period of production and supply. Huge arrivals and subdued demand has resulted in the price slipping to ₹8 a kg at farm level in Coimbatore. It is slightly lower at ₹6 in Thalaivasal and Ottanchattiram market. Traders survey and our analysis reveal that the price will hover around this level for the next one month. It is likely to increase only by mid-March,” say Farm Varsity experts.
