Cardamom loses flavour

Small cardamom prices plummeted last week at auctions held in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and in the major trading hub Bodinayakannur, on liquidity crunch following the demonetisation. The markets that shot up to above ₹1,300 a kg on the November 7, moved up further at both the forenoon and afternoon auctions on November 8 and witnessed a total decline of ₹100 a kg in the following three days, Ranganathan, a Bodi based dealer told Business Line.
