Coonoor tea sales closed for Diwali

There will be no auction of Coonoor Tea Trade Association this week as the market remains closed for Diwali holidays. The next auction numbered Sale No: 43 will take place on October 26 and 27. Around 90 per cent of the offer was sold last week despite the average price rising to ₹82.12 a kg from previous week’s₹80.84 due to strong upcountry demand. Homedale Estate’s Red Dust tea topped the entire CTC tea market when JP Enterprises bought it for ₹236 a kg. In the CTC leaf tea auctions, Homedale Estate tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹216. Among orthodox teas, Chamraj topped at ₹286/kg.
