Turmeric prices, on the spot and futures, increased at Erode on Friday amid lower production and a rise in demand. Nearly 7,100 bags arrived for sale and 70 per cent of them were sold.
Finger turmeric was up ₹350 a quintal and the root variety by ₹100. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety went for ₹5,799-8,929 a quintal and the root variety for ₹5,289-8,021. Of the arrival of 3,828 bags 2,178 were sold.
