Imported pepper floods market

The primary markets areflooded with imported pepper and hence the material arriving at the terminal market is of foreign origin, trade sources told Business Line. On the terminal marketeight tonnes were traded and of which five tonnes of imported pepper were traded at₹390 a kg and three tonnes from the plains were traded at ₹410 a kg. Spot prices fell by ₹300 a quintal to close at ₹41,200 (ungarbled) and ₹43,200 (garbled) a quintal. Indian export prices were at $6,900 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,150 a tonne c&f for the US.
