BL29-PEPPER

Downward trend continued in spot pepper on Wednesday on slack demand. No demand is emanating from the upcountry markets which are flooded with imported pepper from Sri Lanka and Vietnam.

Only three tonnes of pepper were traded at ₹690-692 a kg. Spot prices declined further by ₹100 a quintal to ₹68,400 (ungarbled) and ₹71,400 (garbled). October, November and December contracts on the IPSTA, however, remained unchanged at ₹72,000, ₹66,000 and ₹63,000 a quintal. Export prices were at $11,150 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,400 for the US.
