Pepper rules steady

Spot pepper ruled steady as demand matched supply.

Leading exporters, who have commitments to fulfill, were buying. But, arrivals shrunk. Supplies from the High Ranges were thin due torains in Idukki district. Selling pressure in Karnataka continued to be high and pepper was offered at ₹475 a kg.

Semi-processed material was sold at ₹520. High Range pepper was traded at ₹525/530 while Pulpally material was being sold at ₹525. On the terminal market, 37 tonnes of pepper were traded.

On the IPSTA platform, March contract fell by ₹1,000 a quintal to ₹55,592. Export prices are at $9,100 a tonne March shipments. April and May shipments are at $8,900 and $8,850 respectively.
