Retail buying supports sugar

Vashi sugar market witnessed higher local offtake but prices remained range-bound and steady on back of millers’ selling. On the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association, S-grade increased by ₹14 while M-grade was up ₹4 on the lower side and declined by ₹10 on the higher side.

Naka rates were down for both qualities by ₹5-10. Mill tender prices were steady. Arrivals at Vashi market were 59-60 truck loads and local dispatches were about 62-63 loads. About 21-22 mills offered tenders and sold about 53,000-54,000 bags at ₹2,280-2,420 (2,280-2,420) for S-grade and ₹2,420-2,560 (2,420-2,570) for M-grade.

The BSMA spot rates: S-grade ₹2,450-2,581 (2,450-2,595) and M-grade ₹2,536-2,696 (2,532-2,706). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,400-75 (2,400-80) and M-grade ₹2,430-2,590 (2,430-2,600).
