Gold prices fell Rs 199 to Rs 30,690 per 10 gram at the futures trade today amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in far-month October dropped by Rs 199 or 0.64 per cent to Rs 30,690 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 52 lots.

The metal for delivery in August was trading down at Rs 196 or 0.64 per cent at Rs 30,411 per ten gram in a business volume of 982 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in gold futures to a weak global trend, where it retreated from the highest in almost two years as traders pared bets on the outcome of next week’s UK vote on membership in the European Union.

In the international market, gold fell $13.50 or 1.05 per cent to $1,278 an ounce in New York yesterday.
