The Madras High Court has stayed the entertainment tax (e-tax) levied on DTH services in Tamil Nadu. The State Government had passed a Bill levying 30 per cent tax on DTH operators from September 27. Dish TV had filed a petition in the High Court challenging the decision.
The Court stay can only give a temporary relief to stocks such as Dish TV and Sun TV. A clear picture will emerge only after the matter is disposed of.
