Dow, S&P end lower

US stocks fell on Thursday as investors remained cautious over soft retail sales and a sharp rise in the dollar. December jobs report is due to be released today.

The Dow Jones industrial average shed 25.58 points or 0.22 per cent to 11,697.31. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was down 2.71 points or 0.21 per cent at 1,273.85. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 7.69 points or 0.28 per cent to 2,709.89.
