Realty, bankex push Sensex up 106 points

Brokers delighted at the upward movement of the Sensex

The BSE benchmark Sensex ended the session higher by over 90 points on Friday on buying by funds and retail investors amid firm global cues.

At 3.30 p.m., the 30-share BSE index Sensex was up 93.39 points at 20,482.46 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was up 25.45 points at 6,127.30.

Volume toppers during the session were SBI, Reliance Communications, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and RIL.

Major Sensex gainers were HDFC Bank, RIL, SBI, Bajaj Auto, Reliance Communications, Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Steel. Jindal Steel, HDFC and Sterlite Industries were the major losers.

Among the sectoral indices, realty was up 2.13%, bankex 1.25%, auto 0.91% and power 0.76%. Of the total 3,067 stocks traded, 1,978 advanced, 1,005 declined and 84 remained unchanged.
