Venture capital funding into global smart grid companies came in at $81 million in Q2 2014, down from $101 million in Q1, according to a report.

While the Government is expected to launch a national smart grid mission and monitor the implementation of policies and programmes envisioned in the smart grid road map for the power sector, it is interesting to know which smart grid technologies and companies around the world are attracting financing and the companies being acquired.

The top VC funded companies in Q2 were led by ChargePoint which raised $22.6 million, Sunverge Energy which raised $15 million, and On-Ramp Wireless which received $13.6 million in an amended funding round, a report by Mercom Capital Group noted.
