When the Centre provisioned close to ₹80,000 crore for fertiliser subsidy for this entire fiscal, how did all of it get used up in less than six months?

Fertiliser stocks gained after the government had on Wednesday decided to continue with the urea subsidy scheme till 2020. Direct benefit transfer would also be implemented for disbursement of fertiliser subsidy to reduce diversion.

National Fertilizers Ltd jumped 6 per cent, Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd gained 5.3 per cent, while Madras Fertilizers Ltd rose 4.8 per cent. Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd surged 4.4 per cent, while Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd gained 2 per cent.
