L&T Energy Green Tech partners with John Cockerill on renewable energy technologies

India’s L&T Energy Green Tech Limited (LTEGL) and Belgium-based John Cockerill have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and Thermal Energy Storage (TES) technologies, according to a press release issued today.

The shares of Larsen & Toubro Limited were trading at ₹3,488.75 up by ₹72.80 or 2.13 per cent on the NSE today at 2.20 pm.

The collaboration aims to identify strategic opportunities in manufacturing, component supply, and engineering solutions for CSP and TES projects. The partnership will combine LTEGL’s expertise in manufacturing, engineering, procurement, and construction with John Cockerill’s experience in energy technologies.

LTEGL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, focuses on sustainable energy solutions including green hydrogen and electrolyser manufacturing. John Cockerill brings over 200 years of experience in energy and industry, with specific expertise in solar thermal receivers for concentrating solar power plants.

Subramanian Sarma, Whole-time Director & President (Energy) at L&T, emphasized the importance of round-the-clock renewable power availability for global energy transition. Meanwhile, Thomas Bohner, CEO of John Cockerill Energy, highlighted their expertise in solar thermal receivers, with reference projects in the UAE, China, Chile, and South Africa.

The partnership is expected to support India’s transition toward sustainable energy adoption and help meet the country’s net-zero commitments.
