Metal stocks gain as govt may set MIP on steel imports

Metal stocks gained today on a report of MIP notification.

The BSE metal index was up 1 per cent.

India may set minimum import price on steel imports, CNBC TV 18 said citing unidentified sources.

China makes nearly half the world's 1.6 billion tonnes of steel and exported over 100 million tonnes of the alloy last year.

Jindal Steel rose as much as 8.6 per cent, SAIL gained 3 per cent, and Tata Steel Ltd was up 1.9 per cent.
