Top Gainers & Top Losers Today Feb 18, 2025: Tech stocks lead gains in intraday

Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Apollo Hospitals, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank stocks gain, while Trent, BEL, M&M, UltraTech Cement and IndusInd shares decline

IT stocks such as Tech Mahindra, Wipro and Infosys, along with HDFC Bank and Apollo Hospitals emerged among gainers of Nifty 50 pack during mid-day trading session on Tuesday, while, Trent, Bharat Electronics, Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Enterprises, and IndusInd were major losers.

The broader index traded lower. Sensex declined 160.73 pts or 0.21 per cent to 75,836.13 as at 12.41 pm, and Nifty 50 dipped 75.00 pts or 0.33 per cent to 22,884.50.

Top gainers

Leading gains, Tech Mahindra emerged as the top gainer in intraday trading session, rising 1.32 per cent to close at ₹1686.9. Wipro followed closely with a 1.26 per cent gain, trading ₹309.2.

Infosys shares also rose about 1 per cent to ₹1,861.65.

Healthcare stock Apollo Hospitals climbed 1.16 per cent to ₹6373.3. The stock gained traction after reports of strong earnings expectations and increasing demand for healthcare services.

Among the banking sector, shares of Kotak Mahindra, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank recorded modest gains between 0.24 per cent to 0.10 per cent.

Top losers

While the IT index pushed the indices higher, consumer, auto, metal banking and others dragged the market.

On the flip side, defence PSU Bharat Electronics fell 2.13 per cent to ₹243.2, and Trent dropped 2.48 per cent to ₹4,970.2.

At the time of writing, shares of auto major M&M declined 2.12 per cent to ₹2,772.05 and Adani Enterprises declined 1.90 per cent to 2181.5.

Cement stock UltraTech and IndusInd Bank declined 1.52 per cent and 1.38 per cent, respectively, trading among major laggards of Nifty 50 pack.

In addition, major losers of Nifty metal stocks include Welspun Corp (-4.34 per cent), Hindustan Copper (-3.40 per cent), SAIL (-2.83 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (-2.31 per cent).
