Shares of Welspun India Ltd soared as much as 12.4 per cent to Rs 82.50, their highest since August 7. About 47 million shares changed hands in block deals on the NSE, including a single trade of more than 36 million shares.
Around 1.6 million shares changed hands in a single trade on the BSE. More than 81 million shares traded vs 30-day average volume of about 2 million. The shares were on track for highest daily volumes since August 25, 2016.
The textile firm's stock posted biggest intraday percentage gain since March 23, 2016. The stock was among the top percentage gainers on Nifty 500 Index.
