Pune-based Bank of Maharashtra, which celebrated the 76th anniversary of commencement of business on Tuesday, began registration for Aadhar , the unique identification number (UID).

The drive began with Chairman and Managing Director, Mr A.S. Bhattacharya, enrolling as the first customer at the bank's headquarters. As Registrar to UIDAI, the bank will register citizens in Pune and Mumbai.

To commemorate 75 years of being in business, the bank celebrated the day as ‘Customer Day' with all branch managers, regional heads and senior officials available for interaction with customers. Customers from various places met the CMD through video conferencing arranged at regional offices.

Mr Bhattacharya said February 8 will henceforth be designated as ‘Customer Day'.
