Corporation Bank to open 200 ‘Corp Excel’ branches by next year-end

Corporation Bank will open 200 ‘Corp Excel’ branches by the end of December 2015, according to S R Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director of the bank.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of the inauguration of ‘e-Lobby’ facility of the bank in Mangalore on Thursday evening, he said that ‘e-Lobbies’ will be part of such branches.

Under the business process re-engineering project of the bank titled ‘Project Sankalp’, Corp Excel branches will have a layout that is demarcated between customer facing and operations work. It also includes a convenient and simplified queue management system and sufficient customer waiting area.

The bank has opened 15 ‘Corp Excel’ branches in the country till now, he said.

Features of e-Lobby

The ‘24x7 e-Lobby’ facility in such branches will have self-service automation kiosks such as cash deposit kiosk, cheque deposit kiosk, self-service passbook printer and an ATM.

He said the kiosks are user-friendly and can be used at ease by the customers.

The cash deposit kiosk can be operated by entering the 15-digit account number and placing the cash on the deposit tray. A maximum amount of ₹49,900 can be deposited a day in the denominations of ₹50, ₹100, ₹500 and ₹1,000 up to 40 number of notes per transaction.

Through the self-service passbook printer, customers can update their passbooks anytime. The passbooks containing barcode of the bank are to be inserted in the machine for updating them, he said.

Clearing cheques can be deposited at the cheque deposit kiosks by writing the name, account number and contact number on the reverse side.

The ‘e-Lobby’, which is opened at a vantage point in the corporate office of the bank opposite Forum Mall in Mangalore city, is the first ‘e-Lobby’ opened by the bank in the city, he said. Two Corp Excel braches will be opened in the city soon, he said.
