Liberty Videocon General Insurance Company Ltd today announced the launch of Infrared thermography risk assessment for its commercial insurance business clients dealing in electrical equipment, production machinery and fired equipment such as boilers and furnaces.
Roopam Asthana, CEO and Director of Liberty Videocon, said: “Using the thermography technique to assess risk is a great way to provide risk mitigation inputs to our industrial clients. The idea is to avoid accidents and add value for our customers. This will add to our growing risk management practice.”
Balaji C, Country Head (Technical & Underwriting), said: “All objects emit thermal energy (heat) in the form of electromagnetic radiation in the IR spectrum. The hotter the object is, the more intense the infrared radiation emitted. By detecting areas of abnormal temperature, IR thermography can diagnose problem areas and their severity especially in electrical installations.”
He also added: “Many insurers in India do not have in-house capability for this technique; hence, this capability positions Liberty Videocon as one of the prominent general insurance players with this competence.”
