The Board of Tamilnad Mercantile Bank on Thursday approved the appointment of K Ramachandran as an Additional (Non-Executive Independent) Director and Non-executive Part-Time Chairman of the Bank.
His appointment as an Additional Director of the bank is for three years starting June 12 and subject to shareholders approval. His appointment as part-time chairman is subject to RBI approval and will be for a three-year period from then.
A banker with over three decades of extensive experience across various domains of banking, Ramachandran began his career as an officer and steadily rose through the ranks to become a Whole-Time Director.
He has served as Executive Director at both Allahabad Bank and Indian Bank and played a key role in the successful amalgamation of Allahabad Bank with Indian Bank.
During his tenure as Executive Director at these banks, he led several strategic initiatives including Total Branch Automation, the implementation of Core Banking with electronic delivery channels, and centralisation of key banking operations among others.
