Two Central Public Works Department (CPWD) officials have been sacked on corruption charges, the Ministry of Urban Development said on Tuesday.

M Venkaiah Naidu, Minister for Urban Development, ordered dismissal from service of R Kennadi, Executive Engineer (Civil) on March 2, while RV Suresh Kumar, Assistant Engineer (Civil), was dismissed earlier by the Director General of CPWD.

The dismissals followed the duo’s conviction under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The two were convicted of criminal misconduct for demanding and obtaining bribes, by the CBI Special Court, Thiruvananthapuram, a Ministry statement added. The two were sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹50,000 each on three counts.
