5.9-magnitude quake hits Kashmir Valley

A moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit Kashmir last night but there was no report of any damage.

The tremors, which created panic among the residents of the Valley, were recorded last night at around 11.20 p.m., an official of the MET department said.

“However, there was no report of any damage to property or injuries to any person,” the official said.

The epicentre of the tremor was in the Hindukush Mountains in Afghanistan.
