West Bengal Transport Minister, Madan Mitra will remain in CBI’s custody till December 19, a spokesperson of the investigating agency said.

Mitra was presented before the Alipore CJM court on Tuesday where his custody was extended for another three days.

The minister was arrested by the central agency on December 12 in connection with the multi-crore Saradha scam. He has been charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, misappropriation and ‘deriving undue financial benefits’ from the Group.

Meanwhile, there was chaos at the court premises with Trinamool Congress supporters demanding his release.

West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, has, however, stood by her Cabinet colleague and alleged that Mitra is being framed by the CBI.
