AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP V. Maitreyan and other leaders of the AIADMK will meet officials of the Election Commission of India at 2.45 p.m. on Thursday.

The elevation of V K Sasikala — who was convicted in a disproportionate assets case — as party general secretary is expected to figure in the meeting.

A Bench of the ECI is likely to conduct an enquiry on the validity of the appointment of Sasikala as general secretary of the party based on a complaint by Rajya Sabha MP Sasikala Pushpa and former party presidium chairman Madhusudhanan.

This outcome will decide the validity of Sasikala's actions as the general secretary of the party.
