Covid-19 tally crosses 21,000 mark in TN

Another 938 persons catch the infection

In a record high, 938 persons, including 82 from other states/country, were infected with Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu to take the total past 21,000 mark to 21,184.

In Chennai alone, 616 persons reported positive taking the total to 13,980. Chengalpattu saw an increase of 94; followed by Kancheepuram (22); Madurai (10); Salem (23); Tiruvallur (28) and the rest distributed among various other districts.

Today, 687 persons were discharged (total 12,000). This leaves the number of active cases in the State to 9,021.

After six Covid19 patients died on Saturday, the number of deaths due to the virus increased to 160.

Today, 12,605 blood samples were tested, says a government data.

Early in the day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami discussed Covid-19 crisis with medical experts. Officials and experts from other districts also participated via video-conferencing.
