Mental determination and positive mindset essential for students pursuing chartered accountancy, according to an expert.

Delivering the keynote address at the state-level CA students’ conference, organised by the Board of Studies of ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India), here on Thursday, T.N. Manoharan, former president of ICAI, said that many students fail in the CA examinations because they lack mental determination.

Lack of determination makes them give up easily. “Never give up halfway when you are performing. Try to cross the finishing line even in a worst-case scenario,” he said, urging them to face examinations with positive mindset.

“In most of the cases, the end of the road is a bend in the road. If you take a deviation, you will reach your destination,” he said.

Stressing the need for practice, Manoharan said practice will help in improving speed and accuracy. These factors give an edge over others.

So many students are bogged down by inferiority complex. They have to shatter the inhibitions among them, he said.

Manoharan suggested that students invest their time for their study than spending time. That investment will determine the profile, brightness and gloriousness of the future. Vijay Kapur, Director, Board of Studies of ICAI, and Murali Mohan, Chairman of ICAI Mangalore branch, were present on the occasion.
