International tax panel members specified

The Finance Ministry has spelt out the names of the 13 members who will comprise the advisory group on international tax and transfer pricing. This group has been tasked with advising the government about legislative amendments and the administrative measures needed to reduce tax litigation and bring about tax certainty.

The Advisory group is headed by the Revenue Secretary. It also comprises five other senior officials of the Finance Ministry, including the CBDT Chairman.

From the industry side, the members include Mr Som Mittal (Nasscom), Mr P.Y.Gurav (CII), Mr Ved Jain (Assocham) and Mr Dinesh Kanabar (Ficci).

Also forming part of the Advisory group are Mr Mahesh P Sarda (ICAI member), Mr T.P. Ostwal (IFA India) and Mr Mukesh Bhutani (ICC India) While the Finance Ministry had initially planned a 12-member group, it has finally settled for 13 members.
