To get freedom and autonomy, higher education institutions should work towards improving the quality of education, said Prakash Javadekar, Human Resource Development Minister, here on Saturday.

“Achieve quality, get freedom; don’t achieve quality, get regulated,” he said while speaking at 4th World Summit on Accreditation (WOSA-2018), a two-day event, organised by National Board of Accreditation.

Emphasising on the role of teachers in improving the quality of education, the union minister said that the faculty is the most important aspect and they should update themselves and be well-prepared. He said, around 80,000 teachers this year have left teaching after the announcement of identifying teachers with their Aadhaar numbers, adding that either they didn’t exist or they were duplicated.
