TAPMI, Dubai varsity to offer joint MBA programme

The Manipal-based TA Pai Management Institute and the University of Dubai have come together to offer an 18-month MBA programme to Indian students.

Chowdari Prasad, Dean (Public Relations) of TAPMI, said here that University of Dubai, which has been set up by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, has close links with the industry.

Students who enrol in this programme will do their first year of MBA at TAPMI, Manipal. On successful completion of the first year, students will do their internship and the second year courses in University of Dubai. On successful completion, they will earn MBA degree from University of Dubai, according to Prasad.

For admission to the 2014 course, the intake planned is a maximum of 20 students. Candidates with a four-year degree or postgraduate degree from recognised universities in India are eligible for the programme, he said. Candidates must also have a valid TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score to be eligible for this programme.

He said that the total course fee is approximately ₹20 lakh. Of this, ₹4.50 lakh will be payable to TAPMI and the rest will include payment to University of Dubai, Visa charges, hostel/stay at Manipal and Dubai.

Prasad said that the degree programmes of University of Dubai have been accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) in the UAE.

The MBA degree of University of Dubai and PGDM (post-graduate diploma in management) programme of TAPMI are accredited internationally by the US-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), he added.
