Uthappa needs to clear the payment of around ₹24 lakh till December 27 or face arrest, according to news reports.

He is the Director of Bengaluru-based Centaurus Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd. According to reports, the company had failed to pay damages of about ₹23,36,602, which will be recovered from the ex-cricketer and the arrest warrant issued on December 4.

He is accused of deducting provident funds from the salary of his employees but not depositing the same in their accounts.

Due to non-remittance of dues, the office is unable to process the Provident Fund accounts of the affected workers, according to news report. It directed the police to arrest Mr. Uthappa and return the warrant by December 27.

Uthappa has represented India in 59 international matches. He is also a prominent player in the Indian Premier League, with a career tally of 1,183 runs and seven half-centuries in international cricket.
