Omicron in Delhi. Omicron variant: Delhi's first case was double-vaccinated, showed no fever

The tally goes up to 14 in India; suspected cases monitored awaiting genome sequencing results

The first case of Omicron confirmed in the National Capital is doubly vaccinated with Covishield. With this, the total number of Omicron cases in India touched 14. There were five existing cases till Sunday when Delhi added one more and Rajasthan nine. In Rajasthan, a family returned from South Africa was diagnosed positive with the new variant, and five people were in close contact. India would decide on a booster shot tomorrow.  

"All the nine patients have been admitted to the RUHS hospital in Jaipur. Samples of 34 people who had arrived from South Africa had been taken, of which nine were found negative. The family came in contact with eight people based in Ajitgadh, Sikar. They all were found negative," a Rajasthan Ministry source told  BusinessLine

Sources said the Delhi patient is a 32-year-old male from Ranchi who returned from Tanzania on December 2. With this, the total number of Omicron cases has increased to five.
