The BJP is hoping that a successful conduct of the Kumbh Mela, to be held in Prayag in January 2019, could further its fortunes in a year when Narendra Modi will seek re-election as Prime Minister

Kumbh Mela : The world’s largest religious gathering Kumbh Mela is set to begin from today in Prayagraj. The Uttar Pradesh government is expecting around 15 crore people for the ‘holy bathing’ ceremony. The telecom companies including Airtel, Vodafone, Jio are wooing pilgrims with special plans and services. On Monday, a cooking gas cylinder exploded in a tent triggering massive fire in one of the Akharas at the Kumbh Mela.

Brexit vote : The Britain plans to hold a vote in the Parliament today on the government’s deal to leave European Union. The MPs will hold a ‘meaningful vote’ on Theresa May’s proposed withdrawal agreement. The Brexit withdrawal agreement includes a guarantee that EU citizen’s right of living in the UK and British citizen living in EU will be protected and the transition period.

Parivesh rollout : A web-based single window system Parivesh will be rolled out from today at the state levels for easy seeking of environment clearances by the entrepreneurs. Currently it is operational at the central level. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August last year, developed under the Digital India initiative. The portal is developed for online submission and monitoring of proposals for seeking Environment, Forest, Wildlife, CRZ clearances from Centre, State and distric levels.

Modi in Kerala, Odisha : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch projects worth Rs 1,545 cr in Odisha. This will be his third visit to the State three weeks. PM will visit Balangir where will be addressing a rally and inaugurate various development projects. PM Modi is also scheduled to visit Kerala today. He is likely to inaugurate the Kollam bypass. He will also offer prayers at the Ananthapadmanabhaswamy Temple in Thirvananthapuram.

Honor launch : Huawei is set to launch Honor 10 Lite in India today. The budget phone is expected to be priced around Rs 15,000 will be a Flipkart exclusive. The lightweight version of flagship Honor 10 will come with dual rear camera and a premium design language.
