(Kempegowda International Airport is an international airport serving Bengaluru, the capital of the Indian state of Karnataka. Spread over 4,000 acres (1,600 ha), it is located about 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of the city near the village of Devanahalli. It is owned and operated by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), a publicprivate consortium. The airport opened in May 2008 as an alternative to increased congestion at HAL Airport, the original primary commercial airport serving the city. It is named after Kempe Gowda the founder of Bangalore. Kempegowda International Airport became Karnataka's first fully solar powered airport developed by CleanMax Solar. As of 2016, Kempegowda Airport is the third-busiest airport by passenger traffic in the country, behind the airports in Delhi, Mumbai and is the 35th-busiest airport in Asia. It handled over 22.2 million passengers with little less than 500 aircraft movements a day. The airport also handled about 314,060 tonnes (346,190 short tons) of cargo. By 2020, it is expected to handle at least 40 million passengers per year, with 45 international airlines and more than 1000 aircraft movements per day. The airport consists of a single runway and passenger terminal, which handles both domestic and international operations. A second runway is being constructed and is expected to be operational by September 2019 while a second terminal is in the early stages of construction. DGCA meeting : The Indian aviation watchdog DGCA will be holding meeting with the airlines to discuss on the rising airfare and expansion of fleet. The regulator had asked the airlines, on April 9, to bring immediate and medium term plan to augment the additional capacity in the market. The augmentation will be additional flights apart from the approved summer schedule.

EU Summit: European Union leaders are set to meet on April 10 to discuss on the UK’s exit from the bloc after the British parliament rejected the Brexit deal for third time. Britain was originally due to leave the bloc on March 29 but the current date of Brexit is likely to be April 12.

New Samsung Galaxy launch : Samsung is all set to launch its latest Galaxy A90 in Bangkok on today. The latest Samsung smartphone is likely to come with sliding-rotating camera. Samsung will be live streaming the launch event on its social media platforms.

Rahul Gandhi nomination : Congress president Rahul Gandhi will be filing his nomination from Amethi today and will hold road show in the constituency. He will be contesting from two Lok Sabha seats this general elections. On April 4, the Congress chief filed his nomination from Wayanad . His mother Sonia Gandhi will also be filing her nomination from Rae Bareli on Wednesday.

Legality of electoral bonds : The Supreme Court will take up the issue on legality of electoral bonds on April 10. On April 5, the apex court, refused to grant an interim stay on the operation of electoral bond schemes. The petitioner ADR alleged that 95 per cent of the bonds are being given to the ruling party.
