There is no shortage of Covid-19 vaccines in India, the Union Health Ministry tweeted on Saturday clearing the air amid rumours of scarcity of anti-covid jabs.
The government is constantly vigil about the stock-situation of covid vaccine through its CoWin IT platform, Dr NK Arora, Chair, Operations Research Group, National Task Force was quoted as saying in a 49-second long video clip on Twitter.
India has crossed the 7-crore mark with 7,30,54,295 vaccines given till 7:00 AM on Saturday through 11,53,614 sessions. These include 89,32,642 health care workers or HCWs (1st dose), 52,96,666 HCWs (2nd dose), 95,71,610 frontline workers (FLWs) (1 dose) and 39,92,094 FLWs (2 Dose) and 4,45,77,337 (1 Dose) and 6,83,946 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged more than 45 years.
As on Day-77 of the vaccination drive (2 April, 2021), 30,93,795 vaccine doses were given. Out of which, 28,87,779 beneficiaries were vaccinated across 35,624 sessions for 1 dose and 2,06,016 beneficiaries received 2 dose of vaccine.
Eight States including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh have shown a steep rise in the Covid daily new cases. These states comprise 81.42 per cent of the total new cases reported across the country.
Maharashtra reported the highest daily new cases at 47,913, followed by Karnataka with 4,991 and Chhattisgarh at 4,174 new cases.
Cases in 5 States soar
India’s total active caseload has reached 6,58,909 comprising 5.32 per cent of the country's total positive cases. A net incline of 44,213 cases recorded from the total active caseload in the last 24 hours. Five states, namely Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Punjab cumulatively account for 77.3 per cent of the total active cases in the country. Maharashtra alone accounts for nearly 60 per cent of the total active caseload of the country.
India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1,15,69,241 with the national recovery rate of 93.36 per cent. The total recoveries registered in the last 24 hours were 44,202 while 714 deaths were reported in the same time span. Six States account for 85.85 per cent of the new deaths with Maharashtra recording the maximum casualties at 481 followed by Punjab with 57 daily deaths.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba on Friday also held a high-level meeting with chief secretaries, DG Police and Health Secretaries of all States and Union Territories to review recent spike in daily Covid 19 cases in 11 States in the last two weeks. These 11 States are Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Haryana.
