The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India stood at 1,00,917 in the last 24 hours. This includes 95,880 discharged, 1,247 deaths and 3,790 active cases.
Data from the Ministry of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the total number of cases in the country has now risen to 53,08,014, this includes 42,08,431 discharged or recovered patients.
The total number also includes 85,619 deaths in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The current case fatality ratio remains at 1.6 per cent and the sample tested per million are at 32128.4.
Nearly 60 per cent of the active cases in India are in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu. Maharashtra is leading the tally in the active Covid-19 cases. This is followed by Andhra Pradesh (8846) and Karnataka (7576), said the official data.
MHA letter
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Friday wrote a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all the states. The letter said that no restriction is imposed on the movement of medical oxygen between the states and transport authorities shall be instructed to accordingly allow free inter-state movement of oxygen carrying vehicles.
“No restriction shall be imposed on oxygen manufacturers and suppliers to limit the oxygen supplies only to the hospitals of the State in which they are located,” read a letter written by Ajay Bhalla, Secreatary, MHA.
There shall be free movement of oxygen carrying vehicles into the cities, without any restriction on timings, while also enabling inter-city supply without restriction, the letter added.
