Manipal Hospitals will adopt IBM Watson technology to help physicians identify options for treating cancer related cases.

Watson is a cognitive computing technology that understands different aspects through machine learning algorithms.

As a part of this initiative, Manipal Health will offer this solution across all its patients, and will be affordable, company officials said but did not get into specifics.

The implementation will happen over all of 16 hospitals in the country, touching 50 oncologists over the next six months, said Manipal AMD & CEO, Ajay Bakshi.

To date, Watson has 15 million pages of medical content across 300 medical journals.
