AP Tourism Dept gears up for biodiversity summit

The Tourism Department of Andhra Pradesh is planning a series of events coinciding with the World Tourism Week during September 21-27 and during the Biodiversity summit to be held during October 1-19.

The State Government is making the necessary preparations to showcase tourism potential in and around Hyderabad and within the State to national and international delegates.

Visitors will get to access special packages of historical places, heritage sites and other popular destinations for tourists.

The State Government has released funds to spruce up works at monuments and heritage sites such as Quli Qutub Shahi Tombs, Badshah Ashoorkhana, Paigah Tombs, Saidanima Tombs and Museum.

Coinciding with the event, AP Tourism Development Corporation is organising special package tours. It has deployed 20 Volvo buses and seven four-wheelers equipped with trained guides. They will facilitate sight seeing tours and guide tourists through these sites. About 300 student volunteers have been trained by NITHIM and IHM and they will be stationed at tourist spots.

It is proposed to inaugurate the Sculpture Park in Shilparamam on September 21. It has been designed as a special attraction for visitors of biodiversity summit.

The State Department of Culture has proposed to organise a series of events during the summit. The fare includes “Glimpses of Folk and Tribal Art Forms of AP.” The department has shortlisted artistes. Folk artistes from all over the State will take part.

The choreography work has been entrusted to Rajputh of Mumbai. He played a role in other major events in Hyderabad such as Afro-Asian Games and World Military Games.

During the Wold Tourism Week celebrations, awards will be presented to eleven themes including most eco-friendly tourism project.
