Kerala Tourism is participating in the JATA Tourism Forum and Travel Showcase 2013 that has formally opened in Tokyo. Billed as one of the largest in Asia, the JATA event is being held from September 12 to 15.

The tourism department of the State is looking to sell to the Japanese market not just the destination but also its traditional skills in ayurveda. In 2012, it recorded 11,500 tourist arrivals from Japan, which represents a growth of nearly 60 per cent over the past five years. The State Government hopes that visa-on-arrival facility introduced recently will attract more people from Japan to Kerala.
