Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh on Thursday said the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win 300 seats this election.

Third power centre He said the BJP would do well in States such as Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu where it has been weak traditionally.

“We are confident of getting at least 60 seats in UP. In Tamil Nadu, we have received support from five local parties. Earlier, there were only two power centres in Tamil Nadu — the AIADMK and the DMK. But now, a third power centre is emerging in the form of BJP-led NDA. At least 20 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu will go to the NDA,” said Singh at a public meeting in Kathlal in the Kheda Lok Sabha constituency in Central Gujarat.

“People had doubts who would support the NDA. But look, we have received support from 25 parties, which was never seen in the past. Such is the tsunami of Narendra Modi,” he said.

Modi’s victory Singh was confident that Modi would win from both the seats he is contesting from.

Commenting on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s denial of a Modi wave in the country, Rajnath Singh said, “Congress leaders have gone into depression, they have no control over what they are saying.”
