He-Man Engineers has devised a multi-level automatic parking system using robotic technology, which was designed at the company’s manufacturing facility at Angamally near here.
The system called He-Man Robopark will be officially launched in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday by the State Finance Minister, K.M. Mani.
Tenny Jose, chairman and managing director of Tenny Jose and Associates, which is marketing the product, said that the first installation of the unit will take place at a leading automobile showroom in Thrissur next month, followed by a leading hospital in Angamally.
Several shopping complexes are showing interest in the project, he said, adding that enquiries are even coming from various municipal organisations in Chennai for using the technology as part of public utility service.
He-Man Robopark uses an Irish technology adapted for the Indian environs.
A Robopark tower enables a business firm to park up to 160 SUVs in 10 cents of land, thereby saving at least 50 per cent land as compared to conventional parking ramps. The tower can be installed in 4-6 months on a turnkey basis and can be customised according to individual land and plan requirements, he said.
Moreover, the tower uses hardly one unit of electricity to manage 10 cars for parking and retrieving. Power failures will not affect its operations due to an inbuilt electricity generation. The facility will have two entry points with 12 slots in one floor, he said.
Asked about the cost involved for installation, Jose said it would require an investment of nearly Rs 5 crore to set up the unit in 8 cents of land to park 116 cars. The company is targeting a sale of 15 units in the first year of operation.
The multi-level parking system is an ideal option to ensure optimal space utility, especially with the introduction of new building rules by the State Government stipulating two car parking facilities mandatory for a 2,500 sq ft building, he added.
